On the Forth of July, kids think about parades and popcorn, friends and fireworks. Here’s a way for you to create a writing opportunity to help them think about why we get to enjoy these delights. Write to a soldier.
There are sites out there to match up kids with soldiers as pen pals, but it may be more meaningful if they write to someone they know, or maybe a family friend.
A blank piece of paper is VERY intimidating, especially to young writers, so setting up a prompted template can add a little structure, making the task more enjoyable (for everyone)!
Add stickers and the fun factor is really powered up.
Do you think our friend Chuck is going to love this letter?
